DECAPITATED: More Information Revealed About Polish Tribute Concert
November 29, 2007DECAPITATED's MySpace page has been updated with the following message:
"Next Sunday [December 2] will be the concert that we had sent the word about recently, dedicated to the memory of DECAPITATED's drummer —Witold 'Vitek' Kieltyka — in Krzysztofory club in Cracow [Poland]. Let it be known that all the proceeds from this charitable event will go for the support of the families of the deceased musician and Covan who is in a very serious condition in hospital. The fans can expect nothing but a 'one-of-a –kind' concert with a participation of DECAP's fellow bands' musicians and a huge group of guests — specially invited for the occasion.
"To kick off, HEART ATTACK, and then CRIONICS, who accompanied DECAPITATED on the latest Russian tour. After them, HATE, who have just recorded their new album, 'Morphosis', and not been seen live for quite a while now, [and] SCEPTIC, with Vogg from DECAPITATED on the rhythm guitar. In the second part of the gig you will have a chance to see the musicians from VIRGIN SNATCH and THY DISEASE, performing songs from their own repertoire, as well as the covers of MACHINE HEAD, VADER, DEPECHE MODE, MADONNA and others. Some of the guest-musicians to appear will be Paulina Maslanka and Cube from DELIGHT, Weronika Zbieg of TOTEM, and representing DECAPITATED — Martin, Sauron and Vogg. Amid the cover songs will also be SLAYER's 'Mandatory Suicide' and 'Suffer the Children' by NAPALM DEATH, that you certainly remember from DECAPITATED's concerts. The event will be hosted by a well-known music journalist and publicist — Jarek Szubrycht. At the venue [there] will be a stand with DECAPITATED's exclusive merchandise and gadgets whose sale will support Vitek and Covan families' fund."
Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka died on November 2 in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a road collision. He was 23 years old. DECAPITATED singer Covan (real name: Adrian Kowanek) was also hurt in the accident, which involved the band's tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border. The frontman reportedly also sustained a head injury in the collision, which is believed to have been the fault of the band's driver (although this has not yet been officially confirmed). Covan has since been moved to a hospital in Kraków, Poland. Doctors describe his condition as stable and he is showing signs of improvement every day.
